Christine and Laura were introduced on-trail by a mutual friend in 2020. They were a perfect match, hiking at a similar pace, sharing an adventurous spirit, and bonding over a love of the outdoors. Unbeknownst to the other, both were making plans to share their passion for hiking, backpacking, and travel with others; Christine working to start a blog to share her experiences and insights, and Laura working to build a guide service focused on women who do not fit the “typical fit hiker” stereotype. After casually mentioning their plans on trail one morning, the two intentions were melded together and a Woman’s Walk Adventures was born- an inclusive community dedicated to introducing women of all abilities, shapes, sizes, and fitness levels to the outdoors.
Christine and Laura have shared countless laughs on trail and look forward to sharing them with you.

Meet your team

Christine

The first time that Christine crossed into the Shenandoah Valley in Virginia, she turned to her friend and said that she was home. At that moment, she knew that the valley and surrounding mountains would always be the place that she would return to. Over the years, she has traveled around the world but always comes back to the beautiful Shenandoah- hiking, exploring and backpacking. Christine has taught for over 20 years and has studied survival skills with Tom Brown, Jr. (Tracker School) and with Del Hall (former Nature Awareness School). Christine enjoys sharing her love of the outdoors with others and planning trips. When not in the wilderness or exploring, she spends her time as a travel writer and planning new adventures to share with others.

Laura

Laura is a native of Long Island, NY and now calls Virginia her home.  She currently splits her time between Tidewater and the Shenandoah Valley, enjoying both coastal and mountain living.  Laura has extensive hiking and backpacking experience, including winter hiking and snowshoeing.   Although she loves the diverse trail system of Virginia, Laura prefers the rugged, rocky terrain of the northeast and misses the smell of the forest after a good snow.  Laura is passionate about sharing her love of the outdoors with other women and helping them gain the confidence that they need to get on trail.  When not hiking or at work, Laura can be found planning new routes or spending time with her two dogs.

Patient and Helpful

Christine and Laura are very patient. They walked me through the proper way to pack and to fit my backpack and worked with me on reducing the weight that I was carrying. We practiced all the skill I needed for backpacking, including filtering water, cooking, setting up my tent, and how to dress for the elements.

Personalized and Encouraging

Exploring nature through hiking is one of my lifelong joys. My recent extensive osteoporosis diagnosis left me thinking my hiking days were over.

Woman’s Walk Adventures changed that by offering a tailored experience to my level of abilities and limitations.

I owe a huge thank you to Christine (my guide) for locating a doable trail and touching base with me prior to the hike. The day of the outing she checked my gear and also offered me the use of equipment I could borrow to aid in my journey.

Before entering the trail Christine explained the length and layout of the hike, answered questions then enthusiastically started to guide me upward.

I was impressed with the personalized attention I received as well as thrilled with the total hiking experience.

I would highly recommend booking a tour with Woman’s Walk Adventures.
